In the 1980s the 50s were cool again, with Classic Rock, nostalgia-themed restaurants, and nostalgic movies leading the way. But the great Rob Reiner chose to commemorate the end of the 1950s in a different way, with a mournful and elegiac story about four friends embarking on a search for a dead teenager’s body, and a search into themselves in the legendary Stand By Me. The movie that introduced Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix, Jerry O'Connell and Corey Feldman to the world at large, also introduced our host to the works of Stephen King as he settles into a new town, finds new friends, and reflects on the truth that you never have friends quite like the ones you have when you're twelve.
